About eCanned.com

www.eCanned.com – The Economy in a Can

eCanned.com is an interactive service designed to deliver economic information to business owners, job seekers, development professionals and researchers.

Description

eCanned uses Web log(1) (Blog) technology to deliver economic information in a readable, easy-to-understand fashion. The Weblog technology is important because this allows the site to be interactive, allowing visitors the opportunity to post comments. The organization of eCanned.com is based on geography. The “highest” geography that is currently analyzed and “blogged” about is the United States. Other geographical levels include States, Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and Counties. The County and Metropolitan blogs offer the opportunity for users to become a Local Expert. As a Local Expert, the users contact information is displayed on the counties or metro Blog and they are also invited to contribute to the Blog.

“eCanned” Blog Posts

The Editors of eCanned.com will frequently post geographically tailored data analysis to the blogs of appropriate regions. This content is considered as open-source content. The use of this content is welcomed as long as eCanned.com is appropriately referenced. The data used to generate the geographically tailored data analysis will typically come from the public domain (i.e. Census Bureau) and will be properly referenced in the eCanned Blog Posts.

““eCanned” Reports

The “eCanned” Blog Posts will be delivered to users in a series. For example, the posts that occurred from November 10, 2006 to January 10, 2007 all correspond to the Demographics of an area(2). Partnering with professional research staff at the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University, eCanned.com will generate customized, high-quality reports for a low fixed price. eCanned.com also welcomes the opportunity to partner with additional Universities in an effort to provide additional expertise and higher quality reports.
