Blount County Five-Year Industry Employment Change

Employment for all industries has decreased by 7.9 percent since the 2nd Quarter of 2001. This is greater than growth in Alabama, which saw a gain of 3.3 percent since 2001 ( 2nd Quarter). The losses felt were greater than than the gain seen for the United States of 2.6 percent.

Income and Poverty in Blount County, Alabama

Hispanic households in Blount County, Alabama recorded a median income of $37,644, which is 8.7 percent less than the median reported for all households in the area. Blount County, Alabama had a total estimated population of 55,725 for the year 2005. The total population has increased sharply, since the population in 2000 of 51,227. This growth shows an increase of 8.8 percent. Blount ranks 10 of 67 counties by growth in total population in Alabama and the county ranks 534 of 3,141 counties when analyzing total county population change across the nation.
