Franklin County Five-Year Industry Employment Change

Employment for all industries has increased by 10.2 percent from the reported values in 2001. These values are greater than growth in the State of Alabama, which went through a gain of 3.3 percent since the 2nd Quarter of 2001. The gains felt were greater than than the gain felt at the national level of 2.6 percent.

Income and Poverty in Franklin County, Alabama

When put side-by-side with other counties (or parishes) throughout the United States, Franklin County, Alabama can be recognized as having a relatively high poverty rate amongst the population, with a poverty rate of 18.9 percent of people living in a family with an income below the poverty level in 1999. In 2005, the Census Bureau estimated the median age in Franklin County, Alabama to be 38.1 years old. The median in Franklin is greater than the median in Alabama of 37.4. From 2000, the area has seen an increase in this median, when at that time it was 36.8 years old. With 23.5 percent of the population in the year 2005 being made up of individuals less than 18 years old, Franklin can be understood as having a medium-high proportion of youths.
