The Sound recording industries industry has experienced the largest percentage growth, expanding by 381.3 percent from the 2001 (Q2) to the 2006 (Q2). Income and Poverty in Maricopa County, Arizona

As the median income level saw a decline since 2000 in Maricopa County, Arizona, the Race/Ethnicity group that experienced the largest decline in median income was the Black or African American Race/Ethnicity category. This category went through a decline of 20.7 percent in the last five years. The Asian population category was least influenced by the median household income decline in Maricopa County, undergoing a 1.5 percent increase in household income, since the reported levels in 2000.

Higher Education in Maricopa County, Arizona

From 2000, Maricopa has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population group has grown by 1.4 percent to a total of 27.2 in 2005, as reported by the American Community Survey. The poporation of the 2005 population having received at least a BA is greater than the porportion in the State of Arizona percent of 25.6 and the same the national percent of 27.2.

In Maricopa County, Arizona according to the Decennial Census of 2000, 28 percent of the White Alone, 20 percent of Black or African American, 47 percent of the Asian alone and 8.2 percent of the Hispanic or Latino (+25) has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

In 2000, the Census reported that in Maricopa County, Arizona, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the Some College or Associates Degree category, with 32 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Maricopa have attainment on average a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men -- 28.6 percent (Men) versus 23.4 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area achieving a Some College or Associates Degree, with 35 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of male population that is highly educated has increased by 0.4 percent. As reported in 2005, 29.4 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 1.8 percent. By 2005, a total of 25.2 percent of the total female population achieved this high level of education.

Maricopa County, Arizona is made up of a highly-educated 2000 population, with 25.8 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. From 2000, a very high amount of people migrated to Maricopa internationally. The migration from outside the US into Maricopa makes up 78 percent of all immigration into Arizona. This amount of international migration is very high when analyzed against the base population in the year 2005 and compared to other counties across the US.

Maricopa County, Arizona had an estimated population of 3,635,528 in the year 2005. The population has increased very sharply, since the population in 2000 of 3,096,692. This growth denotes an increase of 17.4 percent. Maricopa ranks 1 of 15 counties in terms of population growth in Arizona and the county ranks 1 of 3,141 counties by growth in county population in the United States.
