Employment Report for San Diego County, California -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

In San Diego County, Retail Trade, Accommodation and food services, and the Professional and technical services sectors are the largest industries, in terms of total number of jobs in 2005. The Retail Trade provides the most jobs and contributes 13.7 percent of the total county employment. This totals 147,306 employees. The Accommodation and food services and Professional and technical services sectors provide 11.7 and 9.8 percent of all employment.

Manufacturing since the year 2001 was faced with the largest loss in employment in San Diego County. The industry was hit with a loss of 16,009 jobs, or 13.3 percent of industry's employment. The industry declines made up 71.9 percent of the total loss in employment during the period.
