Sedgwick County One-Year Industry Employment Change

The total number of jobs has increased by 4.1 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than percent in the State of Colorado, which experienced a gain of 2.8 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2005. The gains felt were greater than than the gain seen for the United States of 2.0 percent.

The Unclassified industry has lost the biggest percent of jobs, losing 68.4 percent of the jobs from the 2nd quarter of 2005 to 2nd quarter of 2006. The losses of the area have declined faster than the industry has experienced in the State of Colorado, where the industry felt a gain of 146.2 percent. The losses in the Unclassified industry in Sedgwick County outpaced the US in terms of percent of decline of industry employment. The US gained 12.1 percent in terms of employment in the Unclassified industry.

Income and Poverty in Sedgwick County, Colorado

Evaluated with other counties (or parishes) across the nation, Sedgwick County, Colorado can be recognized as having a medium-low poverty rate amid the residents with a poverty rate of 10.0 percent of people living in a family with an income below the poverty level in 1999. The Black or African American race/ethnicity demographic category, owns the foremost rate of poverty with 80 percent of the 2000 population living in poverty. People that are of the age 12 to 17 years have the most percent of people living in poverty in Sedgwick County, having 15.6 percent of this demographic group living with incomes under poverty.
