Income and Poverty in Grand County, Colorado

Higher Education in Grand County, Colorado

Grand County, Colorado can be considered to have a very highly-educated population of the working age, with 34.6 percent of the population over 25 years old having received at least a Bachelors Degree, according to the Decennial Census of 2000. Demographic Profile for Grand County, Colorado

Grand County, Colorado has a population base that is comprised of 92.6 percent White, 0.6 percent African American, 0.7 percent Asian, and 5 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a modest level of diversity, with 6.3 percent of minorities in the 2005 population base. This is less than the State of Colorado percent of 25.6. Since 2000, Grand has increased the percent of minority makeup when 5.6 percent of the total population were minorities.

When calculating the total land area, Grand extends a total area of 1847 square miles. The land areas has a very low average population density of 7 persons per square mile. Arts, entertainment, and recreation has grown in employment, since the year 2001, more than any other industry in Grand Isle County, increasing in size by 78.3 percent.
