Delaware One-Year Industry Employment Change

The counties in the State of Delaware in terms of employment growth percent from the 2nd quarter of 2005 to the 2nd quater of 2006, range from a 2.4 percent job gained in Sussex County to a low of a 0.3 percent job gain in New Castle County.

These job losses are almost entirely with the Bank of America buyout of MBNA.

Whereas such big jumps in numbers usually would represent industry shifts in other states, Delaware is so small that individual corporate decisions will appear prominently on the state-wide stats. For instance Playtex’s closing of a bra factory in Dover slashed statewide textile employment a few years ago and Chrysler’s closing of the Newark Durango plant will show a big hit to statewide manufacturing.

All the numbers in the article are accurately reported, just adding a little context.
