Income and Poverty in Martin County, Florida

The poverty rate in Martin County, Florida has increased by 2.1 percent from the levels reported in the Decennial Census of 2000, moving from 8.8 percent to 10.9 percent.

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 1.6 percent. Demographic Profile for Martin County, Florida

In terms of total land area, Martin covers a total land area of 556 square miles. The land areas has a medium-high average area density of 251 persons per square mile. Similar counties in the US, in terms of density, include: -- more densely populated -- Jessamine, KY (251 per sq. mile ), Vigo, IN (254 per sq. mile ), Union, NC (256 per sq. mile ), -- less densely populated -- Spokane, WA (250 per sq. mile ), Miami, OH (250 per sq. mile ), Coweta, GA (248 per sq. mile ).

Since the year 2000, a high amount of people have migrated to Martin from another country.
