Total employment has increased by 14.6 percent from the reported values in 2001. Income and Poverty in Nassau County, Florida

Evaluated with other counties (or parishes) across the nation, Nassau County, Florida can be understood to have a poverty rate amid the residents with a poverty rate of 9.1 percent with a family income under the 1999 poverty level. Higher Education in Nassau County, Florida

In Nassau County, Florida as reported in the Census of the year 2000, 19.6 percent of the White Alone, 8.4 percent of Black or African American, 26.6 percent of the Asian alone and 10.8 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

Nassau County, Florida can be considered to have a moderately-educated 2000 population, with 18.8 percent of the population (+25) having received a BA or higher, as reported the 2000 Decennial Census. Nassau counted a lower percent of population with high education level than the State of Florida's proportion of 22.4 percent and a lower percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Nassau County, Florida, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the High School Diploma category, with 33.4 percent achieving this level. The female population in Nassau on average have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 21 percent (Men) versus 17 percent (Women). The largest educational attainment category for women is High School Diploma, with 35.4 percent of women in the area reaching this education level.

Demographic Profile for Nassau County, Florida

When measuring the total land area, Nassau encompasses a total area of 652 total square miles. The area has a medium-low average population density of 99 persons per square mile.
