Colquitt County One-Year Industry Employment Change

Total industry employment has increased by 18.7 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than growth in the State of Georgia, experiencing a gain of 3.2 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). The gains the area experienced were greater than than the gain experienced overall in the US of 2.0 percent.

Income and Poverty in Colquitt County, Georgia

It was reported in 2000 that the Asian headed households had median household incomes of $39,488. This income level is 18.3 percent greater than the reported median for all households in the area. In Colquitt County, Georgia White householders had a median income (2005 Dollars) of $38,316 according to the 2000 Dencennial Census, which was 14.7 percent greater than the median in the year 2000. The American Indian and Alaska Native headed households in Colquitt County had a median household income level of $39,854, this was 19.4 percent greater than the median level for total households in the area. Black or African American headed households had a median household income that was 32.5 percent less than the total 2000 reported median, with a their median reported to be $22,552. The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Colquitt County, Georgia, the largest educational attainment category for men is the Less than High School category, with 37.2 percent reaching this education level. The female population in Colquitt have on average achieved a greater level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men; 10 percent (Men) versus 12.6 percent (Women). When measuring the total land area, Colquitt spans a total of 552 total square miles. The area has a medium-low population density of 80 persons per square mile.
