Income and Poverty in Evans County, Georgia

When put side-by-side with other counties (or parishes) throughout the United States, Evans County, Georgia can be considered to have a very high rate of poverty among its population, accounting a rate of 27.0 percent of the population with family incomes below the 1999 poverty level. Demographic Profile for Evans County, Georgia

Evans County, Georgia has a population that is made of 59.2 percent White, 31.7 percent African American, 0.3 percent Asian, and 8.7 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a very high level of diversity in terms of race and ethnicity, with 40.7 percent of the population being minorities. This is greater than the State of Georgia percent of 39.2. Since 2000, Evans has increased the percent of minority makeup when 39.5 percent of the population were minorities.
