Income and Poverty in Floyd County, Georgia

In 2000, the Census reported that in Floyd County, Georgia, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 34.2 percent reaching this education level. The female population in Floyd have attainment on average a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than the men in the area: 16 percent (Men) versus 15.6 percent (Women). Demographic Profile for Floyd County, Georgia

In 2005, the Census Bureau estimated the median age in Floyd County, Georgia to be 35.7 years old. The median in Floyd is greater than the median age in the State of Georgia of 34.3. Since the year 2000, the area has witnessed no change in this median, when at that time it was 35.7 years old. With 24.7 percent of the population in 2005 being comprised of children and youth younger than 18, Floyd can be understood as being made up of a medium-high percent of people under 18. Administrative and waste services has had the highest level of job growth from 2001-2005 in Floyd County, with an employment growth of 47.3 percent.
