Rockdale County Five-Year Industry Employment Change

Total industry employment has decreased by 4.2 percent since the 2nd Quarter figures of 2001. This change is greater than growth in Georgia, experiencing a gain of 3.3 percent since 2001 ( 2nd Quarter). The losses in the area were greater than than the gain reported at the US level of 2.6 percent.

Income and Poverty in Rockdale County, Georgia

This population group has grown by 3.0 percent to a total of 26.4 in 2005, according to the American Community Survey. The 2005 proportion of highly educated population is less than the 2005 State of Georgia percent of 27.2 and less than the average US percent of 27.2.

Demographic Profile for Rockdale County, Georgia

The U.S. Census Bureau, in the year 2005, estimated a median age in Rockdale County, Georgia to be 35.2 years old. The median age in Rockdale is greater than the median age in the State of Georgia of 34.3. Since 2000, the area has experienced a decline in the median age, at that time the median was 35.4 years old. With 26.5 percent of the population in the year 2005 being made up of individuals less than 18 years old, Rockdale can be described as being made up of a medium-high proportion of youths. The working age population group (18-64) has a medium-high presence of the 2005 population base, with 64.2 percent of the population within the age group. People 65 and older make up 9.3 percent of the population in the area.
