In Kootenai County, jobs in the securities and commodity contracts brokerage pay the highest wages

People with jobs in the securities and commodity contracts brokerage industry reported the top wages in Kootenai County for 2006. The average worker in the industry in Kootenai County was paid an annual wage of $159,415 in 2nd quarter of 2006. The wage rate is greater than the industry wage in Idaho of $96,261 and greater than then the pay for jobs in this industry across the nation of $138,150.

Kootenai County One-Year Industry Employment Change

Employment for all industries has increased by 6.7 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than growth in Idaho, which experienced a gain of 5.9 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2005. The gains felt were greater than than the gain felt at the national level of 2.0 percent.

Income and Poverty in Kootenai County, Idaho

When compared to other counties (or parishes) across the United States, Kootenai County, Idaho can be recognized as having a medium-low poverty rate amid the residents with a poverty rate of 10.5 percent of the population with family incomes below the 1999 poverty level. Higher Education in Kootenai County, Idaho

In Kootenai County, Idaho as reported in the Census of the year 2000, 19.2 percent of the White Alone, 10.8 percent of Black or African American, 34.6 percent of the Asian alone and 13.4 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population (over 25) has obtained a Bachelors Degree or Higher.

Kootenai County, Idaho can be considered to have a moderately-educated population, with 19 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Kootenai was reported to have a lower percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Idaho's proportion of 21.6 percent and a lower percent than United States proportion of 24.4 percent.

Since 2000, Kootenai has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population group has grown by 2.2 percent to a total of 21.2 in 2005. Demographic Profile for Kootenai County, Idaho

Kootenai County, Idaho has a population that is comprised of 93.7 percent White, 0.2 percent African American, 0.5 percent Asian, and 3 percent Hispanic. The area population base can be described as having a very modest amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 3.7 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of Idaho percent of 10.5. Since 2000, Kootenai has increased the level of diversity when 3.0 percent of the people were minorities.

Since the year 2000, a low amount of people have migrated to Kootenai internationally.
