Income and Poverty in Kendall County, Illinois

The median household income has declined from the 2000 values (inflation adjusted). The median income has decreased to $69,536, representing a 8 percent decline. In Kendall County, Illinois as reported in the Census of the year 2000, 25.6 percent of the White Alone, 24 percent of Black or African American, 42.8 percent of the Asian alone and 8.6 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

Kendall County, Illinois has a highly-educated working age population, with 25.2 percent of the population over 25 years old having received at least a Bachelors Degree, according to the Decennial Census of 2000. Kendall counted a lower percent of population with high education level than the State of Illinois's proportion of 26 percent and a higher percent than the average across the nation of 24.4 percent.

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 3.4 percent. As reported in 2005, 31.4 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 3.4 percent. By the year 2005, a total of 26.2 percent of the female population had achieved this level of education.

Kendall County, Illinois had a population of 79,514 in 2005. The total population has increased very sharply, since the 2000 total population of 55,190. This growth represents an increase of 44.1 percent. Kendall ranks 5 of 102 counties by growth in total population in Illinois and the county ranks 137 of 3,141 counties when calculating the total change in county population across the US.
