Income and Poverty in Sangamon County, Illinois

When analyzed against other counties (and parishes) in the US, Sangamon County had a relatively high median income for all households of $50,260 (2005 Dollars). In Sangamon County, Illinois according the 2000 Decennial Census, 29.2 percent of the White Alone, 15.8 percent of Black or African American, 63.6 percent of the Asian alone and 29.8 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population (over 25) has obtained a Bachelors Degree or Higher.

Sangamon County, Illinois is made up of a highly-educated population of the working age, with 28.6 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. Sangamon counted a higher percent of individuals with higher educations than the State of Illinois's proportion of 26 percent and a higher percent than United States proportion of 24.4 percent.

Since 2000, Sangamon has increased in the percent of the total population (+25) with a BA or Higher. Estimated since the year 2000, a medium-low number of individual migrated to the Sangamon from outside the country. The immigration into Sangamon makes up 0.2 percent of the total international migration into the State of Illinois.
