Employment for all industries has increased by 4.1 percent from the reported values in 2001. These values are less than growth in the State of Michigan, which went through a loss of -5.7 percent since 2001 ( 2nd Quarter). The gains felt were greater than than the gain reported at the US level of 2.6 percent.

When calculating the total land area, Newaygo extends a total area of 842 square miles. The county has a medium-low average area density of 59 persons per square mile.
