Higher Education in Ramsey County, Minnesota

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 4.6 percent. By the year 2005, 40.6 percent of area's male population, over the age 25, achieved a Bachelors Degree or Higher. At the same time, the percent of women, over the age 25, holding at least a Bachelors Degree has increased by a total of 3.6 percent. By the year 2005, a total of 36.2 percent of the female population having received at least a Bachelors Degree.

Ramsey County, Minnesota is made up of a very highly-educated working age population, with 34.4 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. Ramsey counted a higher percent of the population with at least a Bachelors than the State of Minnesota's proportion of 27.4 percent and a higher percent than United States proportion of 24.4 percent.

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Ramsey County, Minnesota, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 36.4 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Ramsey have attainment on average a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than the men in the area: 36.4 percent (Men) versus 32.6 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 32.6 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

From 2000, Ramsey has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population group has grown by 3.8 percent to a total of 38.2 percent in 2005. According to the American Community Survey, the proportion of the population in 2005 with a BA or Higher is greater than the State of Minnesota percent of 30.8 and greater than the United States percent of 27.2.

In Ramsey County, Minnesota according the 2000 Decennial Census, 36.8 percent of the White Alone, 18.6 percent of Black or African American, 29.8 percent of the Asian alone and 16.2 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population (over 25) has obtained a Bachelors Degree or Higher.
