Higher Education in the State of Minnesota

From the year 2000, the State of Minnesota has increased in the population percent with a Bachelors of Higher. This population percent has grown by 3.4 percent to a total of 30.8 percent in 2005. According to the American Community Survey, the proportion of the population in 2005 with a BA or Higher is greater than the national percent of 27.2.

Minnesota has a highly-educated 2005 population, with 30.8 percent of the population over 25 years old having received at least a Bachelors Degree, according to the American Community Survey of 2005. The State of Minnesota counted a higher percent of population with a BA or Higher percent than the average across the nation of 27.2 percent.

Reported by the 2005 American Community Survey in the State of Minnesota, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 31.8 percent reaching this education level. The female population in the Minnesota have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 31.8 percent (Men) versus 29.6 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Some College or Associates Degree category, with 33.6 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 2.8 percent. By 2005, 31.8 percent of the total male population, in the area, has obtained at least a Bachelors Degree. From 2000 to 2005, the percent of women with a Bachelors or Higher has increased by a total of 3.4 percent. By the year 2005, a total of 29.6 percent of the women in the population had received a Bachelors Degree or Higher.

In the State of Minnesota as reported in the 2005 American Community Survey, 31.2 percent of the White Alone, 20.8 percent of Black or African American, 39 percent of the Asian alone and 14.2 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

According to the 2000 Census Decennial, the counties in the State of Minnesota range, in terms of percent of population (over 25) with a Bachelors Degree or Higher, from a high of 39 percent in Hennepin County to a low of 10 percent in Todd County.
