In Houston County, Minnesota as reported in the 2000 Census, 20.2 percent of the White Alone, 55.6 percent of Black or African American, 21.2 percent of the Asian alone and 33.8 percent of the Hispanic or Latino (+25) population has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

Houston County, Minnesota has a highly-educated 2000 population, with 20.4 percent of the population over 25 years old having received at least a Bachelors Degree, according to the Decennial Census of 2000. Houston counted a lower percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Minnesota's proportion of 27.4 percent and a lower percent than the average across the nation of 24.4 percent.

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Houston County, Minnesota, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 35.8 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Houston have achieved a greater level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men; 19.4 percent (Men) versus 21.6 percent (Women). A high proportion of the female population in the area has reached the High School Diploma category, with 33.8 percent of the areas female population attaining this level of education.
