Income and Poverty in Nobles County, Minnesota

When put side-by-side with other counties (or parishes) throughout the United States, Nobles County, Minnesota may be understood as having a medium-low rate of poverty among the people, accounting a rate of 11.7 percent with a family income under the 1999 poverty level. The Black or African American race/ethnicity population category, holds the highest rate of poverty with 47.2 percent of the population in 2000 living in poverty. Individuals aged 6 to 11 years have the largest percent of population in poverty in Nobles County, with 18.6 percent of this age cohort living in poverty.

Black or African American householders reported a median household income that was 20.7 percent less than the total 2000 reported median, with a their median reported to be $33,089.
