Pine County, Minnesota had an estimated population of 28,485 in 2005. The total population has increased sharply, since the 2000 total population of 26,663. This growth denotes an increase of 6.8 percent. Pine ranks 23 of 87 counties in terms of population growth in Minnesota and the county ranks 865 of 3,141 counties in terms of population growth in the United States.

Pine County, Minnesota has a population that is made up of 93 percent White, 1.6 percent African American, 0.4 percent Asian, and 1.8 percent Hispanic. This area can be considered to have a very modest level of diversity, with 3.8 percent of the population being minorities. This is less than the State of Minnesota percent of 11.2.
