Income and Poverty in Iredell County, North Carolina

Higher Education in Iredell County, North Carolina

In Iredell County, North Carolina as reported in the 2000 Census, 19.2 percent of the White Alone, 5.4 percent of Black or African American, 29.2 percent of the Asian alone and 7.8 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

From 2000, Iredell has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population group has grown by 1.2 percent to a total of 18.6 percent in 2005. According to the American Community Survey, the proportion of the population in 2005 with a BA or Higher is less than the 2005 State of North Carolina percent of 25.2 and less than the United States percent of 27.2.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of the male population that can be considered highly educated has decreased by 1.0 percent. As reported in 2005, 18 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 2.6 percent. By the year 2005, a total of 19 percent of the total female population achieved this high level of education.

Iredell County, North Carolina is made up of a moderately-educated population, with 17.4 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census.
