Higher Education in the State of Nebraska

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 2.6 percent. By 2005, 27.6 percent of area's male population (+25) achieved a BA or Higher. During the same period, the percent of women (+25) that have earned a BA or higher has increased by a total of 4.2 percent. By 2005, a total of 27 percent of the female population had achieved this level of education.

Nebraska has a moderately-educated 2005 population, with 27.2 percent of the population (+25) having received a BA or higher, as reported in American Community Survey of 2005. The State of Nebraska has a higher percent of population with a BA or Higher percent than the US proportion of 27.2 percent.

According to the 2000 Census Decennial, the counties in the State of Nebraska range, in terms of percent of population (over 25) with a Bachelors Degree or Higher, from a high of 32.6 percent in Lancaster County to a low of 10.4 percent in Logan County.

In the State of Nebraska as reported in the American Community Survey of the year 2005, 28 percent of the White Alone, 16.8 percent of Black or African American, 54.8 percent of the Asian alone and 7.4 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved a Bachelors Degree or Higher.

According to the 2005 American Community Survey in the State of Nebraska, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 30.6 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in the Nebraska have attainment on average a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 27.6 percent (Men) versus 27 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area achieving a Some College or Associates Degree category, with 32.8 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

From the year 2000, the State of Nebraska has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population group has grown by 3.4 percent to a total of 27.2 percent in 2005, as reported by the American Community Survey. The proportion of the 2005 population having received at least a BA is the same the national percent of 27.2.
