Cass County Five-Year Percentage Decline in Employment

The Other amusement and recreation industries industry has lost the largest amount of employment in terms of percentage, losing 54.3 percent from 2001 (Q2) to 2006 (Q2). The losses of the area have declined faster than the industry sector has gone through in the Nebraska, where the industry sector experienced a gain of 11.6 percent. The losses in the Other amusement and recreation industries industry in Cass County outpaced the losses of nation as a whole in the industry. Income and Poverty in Cass County, Nebraska

Hispanic Householders in Cass County, Nebraska , as reported in 2000, had a median household income of $48,202, which is 11.4 percent less than the areas median income level for all households. According to the 2000 Census, the Asian headed households in the area have median household incomes of $29,250. This income level is 46.3 percent less than the reported median for all households in the area. Cass County, Nebraska can be considered to have a moderately-educated 2000 population, with 18.8 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Cass was reported to have a lower percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Nebraska's proportion of 23.8 percent and a lower percent than United States proportion of 24.4 percent.

In Cass County, Nebraska as reported in the 2000 Census, 18.8 percent of the White Alone, 33.4 percent of Black or African American, 21 percent of the Asian alone and 6.6 percent of the Hispanic or Latino (+25) population has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Cass County, Nebraska, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 35.4 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Cass have on average achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 19.6 percent (Men) versus 18 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area have achieved the High School Diploma category, with 38.6 percent of the areas female population attaining this level of education.

When measuring the total land area, Cass extends a total area of 559 total square miles. The area has a low average area density of 46 persons per square mile. Since the year 2000, a low number of individual migrated to the Cass from outside the country. The immigration into Cass accounts for 0.2 percent of immigration into the State of Nebraska. This level of international migration can be considered low when comparing levels of immigration per population in 2005.

Cass County, Nebraska has a population that is made up of 96.1 percent White, 0.5 percent African American, 0.5 percent Asian, and 1.8 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a very modest amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 2.8 percent of minorities in the 2005 population base. This is less than the State of Nebraska percent of 12.7. Since 2000, Cass has increased the percent of minority population when 2.1 percent of the total population were minorities.
