Income and Poverty in Madison County, Nebraska

Madison County, Nebraska has a population that is made up of 83.7 percent White, 1.5 percent African American, 0.6 percent Asian, and 12.3 percent Hispanic. This area can be considered to have a modest level of racial and ethnic diversity, with 14.4 percent of minorities in the 2005 population base. This is greater than the State of Nebraska percent of 12.7. Since 2000, Madison has increased the percent of minority makeup when 10.1 percent of the total population were minorities.

In terms of total land area, Madison extends a total area of 573 total square miles. The area has a medium-low density of 62 persons per square mile, in 2005.
