Income and Poverty in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire

While the median household income saw a decline from 2000 to 2005 in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, the Race/Ethnicity group that went through the most dramatic decline in the household income level was the American Indian and Alaska Native Race/Ethnicity category. This category went through a decline of 18.7 percent since 2000. The Hispanic population category was least influenced by the median household income decline in Hillsborough County, undergoing a 21.8 percent increase in household income level, since the year 2005.

Higher Education in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire

In Hillsborough County, New Hampshire according the 2000 Decennial Census, 29.8 percent of the White Alone, 24.2 percent of Black or African American, 58.2 percent of the Asian alone and 18.4 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

Hillsborough County, New Hampshire may to understood as having a highly-educated 2000 population, with 30 percent of the population (+25) having received a BA or higher, as reported the 2000 Decennial Census. Hillsborough has a higher percent of population with this high education level than the State of New Hampshire's proportion of 28.6 percent and a higher percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 2.0 percent. The women in Hillsborough have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than the men in the area: 33.2 percent (Men) versus 27.2 percent (Women). The U.S. Census Bureau, in the year 2005, estimated a median age in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire to be 38.2 years old. The median age in Hillsborough is less than the median in New Hampshire of 39.5. Since 2000, the area has experienced an increase in the median age, when it was 36.0 years of age. With 25 percent of the 2005 population being comprised of individuals under the age of 18, Hillsborough can be understood as having a medium-high percent of individuals under 18. The working age population group (18-64) has a medium-high presence of the population, with 64 percent of the population within the age category.
