In Bergen County, jobs in the spectator sports pay the highest wages

Total Five-Year Employment Growth in Bergen County

Income and Poverty in Bergen County, New Jersey

The poverty rate in Bergen County, New Jersey has increased by 0.5 percent since the 2000 rates, moving from 5 percent to 5.5 percent.

When analyzed against other counties (and parishes) in the US, Bergen County was reported to have a very high household income of $76,332 (2005 Dollars). The population division of the Census Bureau estimates in 2005 a median age in Bergen County, New Jersey to be 40.5 years old. The median in Bergen is greater than the median age in New Jersey of 38.0. Since 2000, the area has experienced an increase in the median, when the median age was 39.1 years of age. With 23.1 percent of the 2005 population being made up of children and youth younger than 18, Bergen can be described as having a medium-high percent of people under 18. Housing Report for Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen County recorded a median home value in 2005 of $466,100, accounted by the American Community Survey. This median is greater than the State of New Jersey 2005 median owner-occupied dwelling value of $333,900 and greater than median home value of $167,500 for the United States in the same year.

The residential real estate values in Bergen County, New Jersey have increased sharply from the housing values in 2000. The residential values have increased by $215,800, or 86.2 percent, from their 2000 value of $250,300.
