In Ocean County, jobs in the power generation and supply pay the highest wages

Jobs in the power generation and supply industry reported the top wages in Ocean County for the 2nd quarter of 2006. The average worker in the industry in Ocean County earned an annual wage of $86,201 in 2006. The annual wage is less than the average industry wage in the State of New Jersey of $87,260 and greater than then the pay for jobs in this industry across the nation of $76,551.

Other top-pay jobs in Ocean County, New Jersey exsists in nondepository credit intermediation ($83,480), management and technical consulting services ($79,185), securities and commodity contracts brokerage ($76,851) and office administrative services ($65,035) industries. Ocean County Wages have increased by 18.7% Since 2001

Ocean County Industry Wages Lag Behind New Jersey, and Wages Lag Behind the United States

Ocean County Five-Year Industry Employment Change

Total industry employment has increased by 12.9 percent from 2001 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than percent in the State of New Jersey, which experienced a gain of 0.7 percent since the 2nd Quarter of 2001. The gains in the area were greater than than the gain seen for the United States of 2.6 percent.

The losses of the area have declined faster than the industry has experienced in the State of New Jersey, where the it saw a loss of 26.2 percent. The losses in the Electronic shopping and mail-order houses industry in Ocean County outpaced the United States industry losses overall. During this period, the United States lost 2.8 in percent of workers in the Electronic shopping and mail-order houses industry.

Ocean County One-Year Industry Employment Change

In Ocean County, New Jersey, the total number of workers for all sectors has increased by 3,368 jobs between mid-2005 and mid-2006.

Income and Poverty in Ocean County, New Jersey

The median household income has declined from the inflation-adjusted values in 2000. The income level has decreased to $52,065, representing a 4.2 percent decline. Ocean County, New Jersey, in terms of percentage of decline, ranks 9 of 17 counties in percent of decline for the household income level in the State of New Jersey. Higher Education in Ocean County, New Jersey

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Ocean County, New Jersey, many men in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 34.6 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Ocean have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men; 22 percent (Men) versus 17.4 percent (Women). A high proportion of the female population in the area has reached the High School Diploma category, with 40.2 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

Since the year 2000, Ocean has increased in the percent of the total population (+25) with a BA or Higher. The portion of this population has grown by 3.2 percent to a total of 22.6 percent in 2005. Demographic Profile for Ocean County, New Jersey

Since 2000, a medium-high number of individuals have migrated to Ocean internationally. The migration from outside the US into Ocean accounts for 1.3 percent of all immigration into New Jersey. This percent of international migration is medium-high when comparing levels of immigration per population in 2005.

Ocean County, New Jersey had an estimated population of 558,341 in 2005. The estimated population has increased sharply, since its 2000 population of 513,710. This growth denotes an increase of 8.7 percent. Ocean ranks 1 of 21 counties when calculating total change in population for New Jersey and the county ranks 72 of 3,141 counties by growth in county population in the United States.

Ocean County, New Jersey has a population that is made up of 88.2 percent White, 3.1 percent African American, 1.6 percent Asian, and 6.3 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a modest amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 11.0 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of New Jersey percent of 35.6. Since 2000, Ocean has increased the level of diversity when 9.3 percent of the population were minorities.

Housing Report for Ocean County, New Jersey

In Ocean County, the real estate market was made up of 268,843 housing units in the year 2005. This represents a growth in housing units, adding in all 13,615 residential units since 2001, or 5.3 percent.

Employment Report for Ocean County, New Jersey -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

In Ocean County, Arts, entertainment, and recreation, Health care and social assistance and Utilities industries, in terms of United States location quotient, are the most dominant in the region. The Arts, entertainment, and recreation industry has a US LQ in the county of 2.58. The level of employment in the Arts, entertainment, and recreation sector is 2.58 times more than the average percent in the United States, revealing signs that Ocean County produces more than its local requirement of products and/or services of Arts, entertainment, and recreation.

Utilities has a largest number of employee per establishment in Ocean County. In the County, the industry averages 46 workers per each place of employment, being greater than the industry's average in the United States of 34 and greater than the New Jersey typical size of 41 for the Utilities industry.

In Ocean County, Retail Trade, Health care and social assistance, and the Accommodation and food services industries have the largest percent of jobs of all industries. The Retail Trade produces the largest number of jobs in the area accounting for 22.2 percent of total employment in the county, making up 26,758 employees.
