Higher Education in Cibola County, New Mexico

In 2000, the Census reported that in Cibola County, New Mexico, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 38 percent achieving this level. The female population in Cibola have achieved a greater level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 11.8 percent (Men) versus 12.2 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is High School Diploma category, with 35.4 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

In Cibola County, New Mexico as reported in the 2000 Census, 18 percent of the White Alone, 11.8 percent of Black or African American, 30.6 percent of the Asian alone and 6 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

Cibola County, New Mexico is made up of a moderately-educated population of the working age, with 12 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Cibola counted a lower percent of population with this high education level than the State of New Mexico's proportion of 23.4 percent and a lower percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.
