Between 2000 and 2005, the percent of the male population that can be understood as highly educated has increased by 0.4 percent. Bernalillo County, New Mexico has a population that is comprised of 45.9 percent White, 2.6 percent African American, 2 percent Asian, and 44 percent Hispanic. The area can be described as having a very high level of diversity in terms of race and ethnicity, with 48.6 percent of the population being minorities. This is greater than the State of New Mexico percent of 46.4. Since 2000, Bernalillo has increased the percent of minority population when 46.6 percent of the total population were minorities.
