Hidalgo County Wages have increased by 38.7% Since 2001

From the second quarter of 2001 to the second quarter of 2006, industry wages have increased in Hidalgo County, New Mexico by a total of 38.7%. This is greater than the growth in industry wages for the State of New Mexico and greater than the growth in average wages for the US.

Income and Poverty in Hidalgo County, New Mexico

Compared to counties across the United States, Hidalgo County was reported to have a relatively low median household income of $29,038 (2005 Dollars). Higher Education in Hidalgo County, New Mexico

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Hidalgo County, New Mexico, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 37.2 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Hidalgo have attainment on average a greater level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than the men in the area: 9.2 percent (Men) versus 10.6 percent (Women). Demographic Profile for Hidalgo County, New Mexico

Hidalgo County, New Mexico has a population base that is comprised of 43.2 percent White, 0.3 percent African American, 0.3 percent Asian, and 55.8 percent Hispanic. The area can be described as having a very high level of diversity, with 56.4 percent minorities. This is greater than the State of New Mexico percent of 46.4. Since 2000, Hidalgo has decreased the level of diversity when 56.9 percent of the total population were minorities.
