Taos County Wages have increased by 23.0% Since 2001

From the second quarter of 2001 to the second quarter of 2006, industry wages have increased in Taos County, New Mexico by a total of 23.0%. This is greater than the growth in wages for the State of New Mexico and greater than the growth in average wages for the US.

Income and Poverty in Taos County, New Mexico

Black or African American householders reported household income levels that were 17.9 percent greater than the total 2000 reported median, with a their median reported to be $36,929. Hispanic Householders in Taos County, New Mexico , as reported in 2000, had a median household income of $30,551, which is 2.4 percent less than the reported median household income for all households in the area. Higher Education in Taos County, New Mexico

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Taos County, New Mexico, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 27.4 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Taos have on average achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 26 percent (Men) versus 25.8 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Some College or Associates Degree category, with 28 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

In Taos County, New Mexico according to the Decennial Census of 2000, 32.6 percent of the White Alone, 50.6 percent of Black or African American, 50 percent of the Asian alone and 11 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved a Bachelors Degree or Higher.
