Lyon County, Nevada has a population that is comprised of 81.3 percent White, 1 percent African American, 0.9 percent Asian, and 12.6 percent Hispanic. The area population base can be described as having a modest level of racial and ethnic diversity, with 14.5 percent of the population being minorities. This is less than the State of Nevada percent of 36.2. Since 2000, Lyon has increased the level of diversity when 12.1 percent of the population were minorities.
