Higher Education in Nye County, Nevada

Nye County, Nevada is made up of a less-educated population of the working age, with 10 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Nye is reported having a lower percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Nevada's proportion of 18.2 percent and a lower percent than the national average of 24.4 percent.

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Nye County, Nevada, many men in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 40.2 percent achieving this level. The female population in Nye have on average achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 11.2 percent (Men) versus 9 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area have achieved the High School Diploma category, with 42.4 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

Demographic Profile for Nye County, Nevada

Nye County, Nevada had a population that was estimated at 40,477 in 2005. The estimated population has increased very sharply, since the population in 2000 of 32,923. This growth represents an increase of 22.9 percent. Nye ranks 4 of 17 counties when analyzing total population change in Nevada and the county ranks 387 of 3,141 counties when calculating the total change in county population across the US.

When calculating the total land area, Nye covers a total land area of 18147 square miles. The land areas has a very low density of 2 persons per square mile, in 2005.
