Demographic Profile for Steuben County, New York

Steuben County, New York had a population that was estimated at 98,632 for the year 2005. The total population has decreased, since the 2000 total population of 98,810. The decline represents a decrease of -0.2 percent. Steuben ranks 40 of 62 counties when analyzing total population change in New York and the county ranks 2,285 of 3,141 counties in terms of population growth in the United States.

Steuben County, New York has a population that is made up of 95.5 percent White, 1.4 percent African American, 1.1 percent Asian, and 1.1 percent Hispanic. This area can be considered to have a very modest level of diversity, with 3.6 percent of the population being minorities. This is less than the State of New York percent of 37.7. Since 2000, Steuben has increased the percent of minority makeup when 3.1 percent of the population was made up of minorities.
