Income and Poverty in Westchester County, New York

The Asian householders in the area have reported their median household incomes at $101,664. This median income level is 36.7 percent greater than the reported median for all households in the area. In Westchester County, New York White householders had a median income (2005 Dollars) of $84,404 according to the Decennial Census of 2000, which was 13.5 percent greater than the median household income in 2000. Hispanic households in Westchester County, New York recorded a median income of $48,295, this median is 35.1 percent less than the median reported for all households in the area. Black or African American headed households had a median household income that was 38 percent less than the overall reported level in 2000, with a reported median of $46,152. The American Indian and Alaska Native householders in Westchester County reported an income level of $38,312, this was 48.5 percent less than the median for all households.

While household income level experienced a decline since 2000 in Westchester County, New York, the Race/Ethnicity group that went through the most dramatic decline in median household income was the Hispanic category. The American Indian and Alaska Native population category was least influenced by the median household income decline in Westchester County, experiencing a 50.7 percent increase in household income level, since the year 2005.
