Bronx County Wages have increased by 16.8% Since 2001

Employment for all industries has increased by 0.8 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are less than growth in New York, experiencing a gain of 1.0 percent since the 2nd Quarter of 2005. The gains the area experienced were less than than the gain reported at the US level of 2.0 percent.

Income and Poverty in Bronx County, New York

The median household income has declined from the inflation-adjusted 2000 income levels. The income level has decreased to $29,228, which represents a 9.5 percent decline. Bronx County, New York, when analyzing percentage of decline, ranks 5 of 29 counties in percent of decline for the household income level in the State of New York. Bronx County ranks 249 of 668 counties (or parishes) when comparing total percent of decline in median income in the US.

Higher Education in Bronx County, New York

Since the year 2000, Bronx has increased in the percent of the total population (+25) with a BA or Higher. The portion of this population has grown by 1.4 percent to a total of 16 percent in 2005. The American Community Survey reports that the proportion of the 2005 population that is highly educated is less than the State of New York percent of 31.2 and less than the United States percent of 27.2.

Reported by the 2000 Census in Bronx County, New York, the largest educational attainment category for men is the Less than High School category, with 38.4 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Bronx have attainment on average a greater level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 14.2 percent (Men) versus 15 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area have achieved the Less than High School category, with 37.2 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

From the years 2000 to 2005, the proportion of the male population that could be considered highly educated has increased by 1.8 percent. In the year 2005, 15.8 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 1.2 percent. Housing Report for Bronx County, New York

Bronx County recorded median owner-occupied home value in the year 2005 of $330,500, according to the American Community Survey. This is greater than the New York 2005 median home value of $258,900 and greater than median home value of $167,500 across the nation during that year.

The residential home values in Bronx County, New York have seen large increases from the housing values in 2000. The residential values have increased by $140,100, or 73.6 percent, since their values in that year of $190,400.
