Income and Poverty in Onondaga County, New York

In Onondaga County, New York White householders had a median income (2005 Dollars) of $50,972 as reported in 2000 by the census, which was 6.7 percent greater than the median in 2000. The households that were headed by an American Indian and Alaska Native individual in Onondaga County reported an income level of $35,328, this median was 26.1 percent less than the median level for total households in the area. Higher Education in Onondaga County, New York

In Onondaga County, New York as reported in the 2000 Census, 29.6 percent of the White Alone, 10.4 percent of Black or African American, 56 percent of the Asian alone and 23.4 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of male population that is highly educated has increased by 0.4 percent. In the year 2005, 31.4 percent of the total male population, in the area, has obtained at least a Bachelors Degree. From 2000 to 2005, the percent of women with a Bachelors or Higher has increased by a total of 1.4 percent. By the year 2005, a total of 27.6 percent of the total female population achieved this high level of education.

Onondaga County, New York may to understood as having a highly-educated population, with 28.4 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. The U.S. Census Bureau, in the year 2005, estimated a median age in Onondaga County, New York to be 37.5 years of age. The median in Onondaga is equal to the median age in the State of New York of 37.5. Since 2000, the area has experienced an increase in this median, when at that time it was 36.3 years old.
