Demographic Profile for Mansfield, OH

The Mansfield metro area had a total estimated population of 127,949 for the year 2005. The total population has decreased, since its 2000 population of 128,807. The decline shows a decrease of -0.7 percent. Mansfield ranks 5 of 12 MSAs by growth in total population in Ohio and the metro area ranks 320 of 361 metro areas in terms of population growth in the United States.

The Mansfield metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has a population that is made of 87.5 percent White, 9.4 percent African American, 0.6 percent Asian, and 1.1 percent Hispanic. The area population base can be described as having a modest amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 11.1 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of Ohio percent of 15.5. Since 2000, Mansfield has increased the level of diversity when 10.9 percent of the total population were minorities.

From 2000, a low amount of people migrated into the Mansfield metro area, with 300 people migrating in from outside the country. The immigration into Mansfield totals 0.4 percent of all immigration into Ohio. This amount of international migration is low when compared to international migration per 2005 population.

In terms of total land area, the Mansfield metro area encompasses a total area of 497 square miles. The land areas has a medium-high population density of 258 persons per square mile.
