Higher Education in the Toledo, OH Metro Area

The American Community Survey reported that in the Toledo, OH Metro Area, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 36.4 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in the Toledo metro area on average have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 23.6 percent (Men) versus 22 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area achieving a High School Diploma category, with 33.8 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of male population that is highly educated has increased by 0.6 percent. By the year 2005, 23.6 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 1.8 percent. By 2005, a total of 22 percent of the total female population achieved this high level of education.

Toledo, OH Metro Area may to understood as having a moderately-educated population, with 22.8 percent of the population (+25) having received a BA or higher, as reported in American Community Survey of 2005. The Toledo MSA has a lower percent of the population with at least a Bachelors than the State of Ohio's proportion of 23.4 percent and a lower percent than the average across the nation of 27.2 percent.

Since 2000, the Toledo metro area has increased in the population percent with a Bachelors of Higher. This population percent has grown by 1.2 percent to a total of 22.8 percent in 2005, according to the American Community Survey. The 2005 proportion of highly educated population is less than the 2005 State of Ohio percent of 23.4 and less than the US percent of 27.2.

In the Toledo, OH Metro Area according to the American Community Survey of 2005, 23.8 percent of the White Alone, 14.2 percent of Black or African American, 52 percent of the Asian alone and 9 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.
