Demographic Profile for Jackson County, Ohio

Jackson County, Ohio has a population that is made of 96.9 percent White, 0.7 percent African American, 0.2 percent Asian, and 1.2 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a very modest level of diversity, with 2.1 percent of the population being minorities. This is less than the State of Ohio percent of 15.5. Since 2000, Jackson has increased the percent of minority makeup when 1.6 percent of the population was made up of minorities.

Jackson County, Ohio had a total estimated population of 33,526 in 2005. The total population has increased, since the population in 2000 of 32,642. This growth signifies an increase of 2.7 percent. With 23.6 percent of the population in 2005 being comprised of children and youth younger than 18, Jackson can be described as having a medium-high percent of people under 18. The 18 to 64 years old population group has a medium-high presence of the population, with 62.7 percent of the population within the age category. People 65 years old and older make up 13.7 percent of the total population base. Compared to other counties throughout the nation, this represents a medium-low percent of the population base.

Since 2000, a medium-low amount of people migrated to Jackson from another country. The international migration into Jackson accounts for 0.2 percent of the total migration into the State of Ohio. This percent of international migration is medium-low when analyzed against immigration per population in 2005.
