Higher Education in the Canton-Massillon, OH Metro Area

Canton-Massillon, OH Metro Area has a moderately-educated population of the working age, with 18.8 percent of the population over 25 years old having received at least a Bachelors Degree, according to the American Community Survey of 2005. The Canton-Massillon MSA is reported having a lower percent of population with high education level than the State of Ohio's proportion of 23.4 percent and a lower percent than United States proportion of 27.2 percent.

Demographic Profile for Canton-Massillon, OH

The Canton-Massillon metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has a population that is made up of 89.9 percent White, 6.9 percent African American, 0.6 percent Asian, and 1 percent Hispanic. The area population base can be described as having a modest amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 8.5 percent minorities. This is less than the State of Ohio percent of 15.5. Since 2000, Canton-Massillon has increased the percent of minority population when 8.1 percent of the total population were minorities.

Since the year 2000, a low amount of people migrated into the Canton-Massillon metro area, with 655 people migrating in from another country. The international migration into Canton-Massillon totals 0.9 percent of the total migration into the State of Ohio. This percent of international migration is low when comparing levels of immigration per population in 2005.
