Higher Education in Geauga County, Ohio

From 2000, Geauga has increased in the percent of the population that is over the age of 25 with a BA or Higher. This population cohort has grown by 7.0 percent to a total of 38.8 percent in 2005, according to the American Community Survey. The 2005 proportion of highly educated population is greater than the 2005 State of Ohio percent of 23.4 and greater than the national percent of 27.2.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of the male population that can be considered highly educated has increased by 5.6 percent. In the year 2005, 39.6 percent of area's male population (+25) achieved a BA or Higher. During the same period, the percent of women (+25) that have earned a BA or higher has increased by a total of 8.0 percent. By 2005, a total of 38 percent of the female population had achieved this level of education.

Geauga County, Ohio can be considered to have a highly-educated population, with 31.8 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. Geauga was reported to have a higher percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Ohio's proportion of 21 percent and a higher percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

In 2000, the Census reported that in Geauga County, Ohio, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 33.6 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Geauga have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 33.6 percent (Men) versus 30 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 30 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

In Geauga County, Ohio as reported in the Census of the year 2000, 31.8 percent of the White Alone, 16 percent of Black or African American, 59 percent of the Asian alone and 35.6 percent of the Hispanic or Latino (+25) population has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.
