Income and Poverty in Ottawa County, Ohio

When compared to other counties (or parishes) across the United States, Ottawa County, Ohio can be recognized as having a poverty rate amid the residents with a poverty rate of 5.9 percent of the individuals existing in families with incomes under the poverty level in 1999. The Hispanic race/ethnicity demographic group, represents the largest rate of poverty with 14.5 percent of the people in 2000 living in poverty. The population that is aged Under 5 years have the largest percent of population in poverty in Ottawa County, with 10.4 percent of this demographic group living with incomes under poverty.

The American Indian and Alaska Native households in Ottawa County reported a median household income of $61,182, this median was 18.2 percent greater than the areas median level for all households. In Ottawa County, Ohio White householders had a median household income (in 2005 Dollars) of $51,747 as reported by the Decennial Census of 2000, which was only slightly greater than the median in the year 2000.
