Income and Poverty in Delaware County, Oklahoma

In Delaware County, Oklahoma White headed households reported household income (in 2005 Dollars) of $33,828 according to the Decennial Census of 2000, which was 3.3 percent greater than the median income in 2000. Black or African American headed households had a median household income that was 57.6 percent less than the overall reported level in 2000, with a reported median of $13,894. Hispanic in Delaware County, Oklahoma , according to the 2000 census, had a median household income of $27,370, this median is 16.4 percent less than the median reported for all households in the area. The Asian householders in the area have reported their median household incomes at $46,069. In 2000, the Census reported that in Delaware County, Oklahoma, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 35.4 percent obtaining this level of education. The women in Delaware have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men; 13.8 percent (Men) versus 12.8 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area have achieved the High School Diploma category, with 38.6 percent of women in the area reaching this education level.

When calculating the total land area, Delaware covers a total land area of 741 total square miles. The area has a medium-low average area density of 53 persons per square mile, in 2005.
