Lawton Metro Area industry wages have increased by 23.2% percent since 2001

From the second quarter of 2001 to the second quarter of 2006, industry wages have increased in the Lawton Metro Area by a total of 23.2%. This is greater than the growth in wages for the State of Oklahoma and greater than the growth in industry wages for the nation as a whole.

The Lawton Metro Area: Five-Year Percentage Decline in Employment

The Business support services industry has lost the largest amount of employment in terms of percentage, losing 89.5 percent of the jobs from 2001 to 2006. These have declined faster than the industry has experienced in the State of Oklahoma, where the industry sector experienced a gain of 17.5 percent. The losses in the Business support services industry in Lawton outpaced the United States industry losses overall. During this period, the United States gained 0.8 in percent of workers in the Business support services industry.

Employment for all industries has increased by 7.8 percent since the 2nd Quarter figures of 2001. This change is greater than growth in the State of Oklahoma, which went through a gain of 0.7 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2001. The gains felt were greater than than the gain reported at the US level of 2.6 percent.

The Cattle ranching and farming industry has experienced the largest percentage growth, expanding by 221.7 percent from 2001 to 2006. This industry in Lawton has increased employment faster than the industry job growth experienced in Oklahoma, where it saw a gain of 27.9 percent. The Cattle ranching and farming industry in Lawton outpaced the nation in terms of industry employment growth . During this period, the nation gained 14.5 percent of the employment in this industry.
