From 2000 to 2005, the percent of women with a Bachelors or Higher has increased by a total of 4.4 percent. The median in Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton is equal to the median age for the State of Pennsylvania of 39.7. Since the year 2000, the area has seen an increase in the median age, at that time the median was 38.6 years old. With 11.9 percent of the 2005 population being comprised of individuals under the age of 18, Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton can be understood as having a medium-high proportion of youths. The working age population group (18-64) has a medium-high presence of the population, with 63.3 percent of the population makes up this age category. The retirement (65 and over) age group comprises 13.6 percent of the population.
