In 2005, the Census Bureau estimated the median age in York County, Pennsylvania to be 39.3 years of age. The median age in York is less than the median in Pennsylvania of 39.7. Since the year 2000, the area has seen an increase in the median age, when it was 37.9 years old. With 23.1 percent of the population in 2005 being comprised of children and youth younger than 18, York can be described as being made up of a medium-high proportion of youths.
